Cape May Tech 85, Absegami 82
Despite losing 85-82 in a close meet against the Cape May Tech boys swimming team on Thursday, Absegami stayed behind after the competition to celebrate the Hawks' seniors.
The Braves delayed their ride home to cheer on their competitors in a demonstration of sportsmanship that left an impact on the Hawks' coaching staff.
"I've been coaching for 12 years and I have never seen any team stay for senior night," Cape May Tech coach Matt McElroy said. "It was great having them there."
Cape May Tech traditionally holds its senior ceremony after the meet and Absegami stayed for the entire ceremony. The Braves finished first in nine events, but ultimately fell to the Hawks who recorded personal best times at the meet.
